This course focuses on installation and repair of residential water heaters. Residential Electric water heaters covered in the course include standard electric, Electronic Display, Smart Electric and Heat Pump. Standard atmospheric gas water heaters, as well as power vent and power-direct vent gas water heaters are also covered in this course.

Participants will learn how to properly install all water heaters covered in the course, with a focus on understanding how incorrectly installed water heaters affect water heater operation. Participants will also gain a complete understanding of how each water heater works following the sequence of operation. Troubleshooting with a focus on installation related issues and top service items will be covered for each equipment type.

Commercial Training

Units covered: Light and Medium Duty Electric, Multi-Flue, High Efficiency Condensing
Topics: Basic Installation Tips (RTFM) Top service Items

This course covers installation and troubleshooting of both electric and gas commercial water heaters. Electric water heaters covered in this course include light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty models. Gas water heaters covered by this course include high efficiency power vent water heaters as well as standard atmospheric multi-flue water heaters.

Participants will learn how to properly install all water heaters covered in the course, with a focus on understanding how incorrectly installed water heaters affect water heater operation. Participants will also gain a complete understanding of how each water heater works following the sequence of operation. Troubleshooting with a focus on installation related issues and top service items will be covered for each equipment type.

Tankless Training

Units covered: Non-Condensing, Condensing, and Concentric Vent
Topics: Applications, Installation, and Troubleshooting

This course is designed for installers and service technicians and appeals to both those that are new to tankless water heating as well as those already experienced with tankless water heaters. A brief explanation of how tankless water heaters differ from standard water heaters Illustrates which types of applications are ideal for tankless, and which are better suited for other equipment types.

With a focus on the 540/AT-H3-DV model, participants in this course will gain a complete understanding of how tankless water heaters work as well learn the fundamental skills to install and service all tankless water heaters in our product line, including:

  • High Efficiency Condensing models (indoor and outdoor)
  • High Efficiency Condensing models with integrated recirculation pump (indoor and outdoor)
  • Ultra-low Nox Non-Condensing models (indoor and outdoor)
  • Concentric Vent Non-Condensing models (indoor and outdoor)
  • Multiple heaters installed in Easy Link configuration.
  • Multiple heaters installed with Multi-unit Controllers
  • Tankless Rack systems

(This varies based on class. Some classes are limited to promote as much interaction as possible.)

• Can I register with multiple people at one location? 

(Yes, One registration per device that will be watching the class)

• What if a workshop is full? 

Change the month at the top left of the calendar and select another day. If no other day works, please email university@hotwater.com.

• When is the latest I can register before a workshop?

Right up to the start time if the class isn’t full.

• What is the cost of the workshops? 

All Virtual classes are free.

• Can I register for multiple sessions of the same workshop? 

Yes, but some classes are limited in size.

• What software do I need? 

Zoom – Visit Zoom website for download. 

• What hardware do I need? 

Microphone, camera, internet service

• Do I need to have my camera and mic on for the workshop? 

It would be best. We always appreciated getting to see who we are instructing.

• Will the workshop be recorded, and can I watch it later? 

Sessions will be recorded and available for a limited time. Please email university@hotwater.com to see if the recording is available and include date and class name.
